Moriarty Police Chief Bobby Garcia gives an interview near the scene of a shooting in Moriarty.
Suspected shooter Ronald Stout Hours after allegedly shooting his estranged wife at a Moriarty discount store on Wednesday, police believe Ronald Stout, 57, intentionally shot and killed himself while driving his car along an Albuquerque highway. The suspect’s vehicle rolled onto an Interstate 40 ramp at Unser after he apparently shot himself. Moriarty Police Chief Bobby Garcia identified the man, who he said was the same person involved in the earlier shooting at Alco Discount Store. According to Moriarty police, Ronald Stout walked into Alco about 11:20 a.m. Wednesday and shot his wife, Greta Stout, 42, who worked there. She was in satisfactory condition Wednesday afternoon at University of New Mexico Hospital, where she was treated for a wound to the leg and possibly a graze to her forehead, Garcia said. There were about a dozen employees in the store and 15 or more shoppers at the time of the shooting, Garcia said. Ronald Stout apparently shot his wife after the two had an argument and she attempted to walk away from him, Garcia said. About 2:20 p.m., Albuquerque police responded to a call of a car matching Stout’s vehicle rolling onto an I-40 ramp at Unser. For more information, see Thursday's Telegraph.
