Young Eagles took flight Saturday morning at the Moriarty Municipal Airport.

From about 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., kids ages 8 to 17 received 15-minute flights. Before and after the flight, the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) pilot tells the kids about the plane and answers questions.

The EAA has been flying kids in the Albuquerque and Moriarty areas for many years and it is great to see the smiles on the kids' faces after their flight, according to Dean Wadsworth, president of EAA Chapter 179.

Nationwide, the EAA pilots have flown about 1.5 million kids for free. The next Young Eagles Rally in Moriarty is scheduled for the morning of Sunday, Sept. 13. The annual Land of Enchantment Fly-in will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12, also at Moriarty.
