Four large air cannons competed, with El Launcho Grande coming in first with a distance of 3,166 feet on the first shot. The crew of last year's winner, the Big Launchowski, were a bit disappointed when two of their three shots resulted in an exploding pumpkin. The Big Launchowski won last year with a distance of 3,593 feet.

Two smaller cannons participated but did not compete with the big guns. They were from the Town of Estancia and New Mexico Chunkers. There was only one mechanical chunker, a trebuchet called Widow Maker. Its three shots were 194, 195 and 202 feet. Last year its best shot was 238 feet.
