Knowledge of knots, and ability to pull tires and do countless pull-ups are a few skills that put Moriarty High School students in first and second place at the Junior ROTC 2009 Raider Challenge held in Los Lunas.
"We're really happy," said Brandon Wright, a co-captain of the winning team. The eight teams that competed scored as a group in the competition's six events, which included tire pulling competitions, a low crawl, knot-knowledge test and pull-up contest. Wright was one of four members of Moriarty's JROTC's "A-Team" who has taken home first place each year for the last three years. Three other members are Tyler Sage, Daniel Jaramillo and David Jaramillo. Next year, the four will be seniors and they hope to complete their perfect record, he said. Rounding out the six-person A-Team are Adrian Randall and Elijah Foss. Moriarty's "B-Team" — Ben Cloud, Jacob Marksberry, Zach Meredith, Barnard Davis, Brandon Johnson, Sam Bullion — also took home a trophy for second place. |
