Former Pres. Bill Clinton is coming to Moriarty to attend the funeral of former New Mexico Gov. Bruce King.

Attorney General Gary King, Bruce King’s son, confirmed Thursday morning that Clinton would attend but could not offer much in the way of specifics.
Bruce King, who served as governor for three non-consecutive terms in three decades, died Nov. 13. He will lie in state at the State Capitol on Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

His funeral will be held in the Moriarty High School gymnasium at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Gary King said that the only person scheduled to speak at the funeral will be the Rev. Dr. Russell C. Lee, but that the family would welcome any comments from Clinton.

“We don’t know at this time if president will want to speak,” Gary King said. “My father always said he wanted a simple ceremony, but I think we can probably accommodate the president if he wishes.”

King said he is unaware of Clinton’s schedule, but added that he knew the former president would not be staying at the King Ranch in Stanley.
