Two residents of Estancia are vying for the municipal judge seat in the election on March 2. They are Bruce Dial and Morrow Hall.

Incumbent Dial said he has enjoyed serving the community for the past eight years. He said he has attended the annual conference for municipal judge's every year as the laws are constantly changing.

Dial, who spent eight years in the U.S. Marine Corps, hopes the residents will support him in his bid for re-election.

"I'm fair. I don't listen to just one part of the story," he said. "Everyone has a right to bring their side of the story."

He said he's seen his own daughter in court for a speeding violation, and she was treated with the same rules as everyone else.

Hall, a life-long Estancian, has a long history in the town. His grandparents moved to the town in 1921. He served as mayor in the mid 1970s.

His legal background comes in terms of writing ordinances in his government positions. When asked why he wants to become a municipal judge:

"I believe I can do the job accurately and fairly," he said. "I promise equal justice under the law."
