SHERRY COX

Sherry Cox, 57, a long time resident of Edgewood, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 30, 2010, after a four-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was a kind, loving, generous person who never said a negative word about anyone. She was always uplifting everyone around her. Sherry always took care of those who needed her. Her selfless dedication to family and friends will always be remembered. She worked at Southwest Airlines for 16 years before her health forced her to leave. Her many friends at Southwest were a very important part of her life. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Cecil Cox; stepchildren Janell and husband Dennis Murphy, and Eric and wife Jane Cox; grandchildren, Ryan and Benjamin Murphy and Claire and Benjamin Cox; mother, Marie Lockhart; brothers, Kenneth Leonard, Thomas Leonard, Marshall Dunn and Victor Dunn; sister, Donna Kirkpatrick; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Don Leonard and stepfather Ivy Dunn. Visitation was June 2. Service will be Thursday, June 3, at 9 a.m. at French Lomas Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. SIMPLICIO "SAM" S. ROCHA

Simplicio "Sam" S. Rocha, 88, of Estancia passed away on June 1, 2010, in Albuquerque. Sam was born in Barstow, Texas, on March 2, 1922, to Francisco and Lucia (Salaz) Rocha. Sam was a long time resident of Estancia. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church and the American Legion. Sam is survived by his son, Alfonso Rocha of Colorado; daughters, Mary Sedillo and her husband, Pete, of Estancia, Bertha Moreland of Ruidoso Downs, N.M., Terri Utter and her husband, Fred, of Tularosa, N.M., Cruzita Valdez and her husband, Rick, of Ruidoso Downs, N.M., Lucy Lucero and her husband, Richard, of La Luz, N.M., Gloria Chavez and her husband, Pat, of Ruidoso Downs, N.M., Mary Toni Corona and her husband, Leonard, of San Patricio, N.M.; brother, Cresencio Rocha; sister, Joaquina Rocha; 26 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Librada Provencio Rocha; sons, Tommy Rocha and Simplicio Rocha Jr.; brothers, Richard Rocha, Joe Rocha, Guillermo Rocha and Alfredo Rocha; and granddaughter, Stephanie Utter. Deacon Juan Lucero will recite the Rosary on Thursday, June 3, 2010, at 7 p.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Estancia. The Funeral Mass will be on Friday, June 4, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Church with Rev. Fr. William Young officiating. Burial will follow the Mass at the Estancia Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jesse Sedillo, Jacob Sedillo, David Salazar, Joe Garcia, Manuel Corona and Philip Luna.
