Ishmael Barela De La Rosa, 66, of Mountainair passed away in his home Monday June 14, 2010. Ishmael was born in Hagerman, N.M. on March 17, 1944 to Martin De La Rosa Sr. and Georgia (Barela) De La Rosa.

Ishmael will lay in state at Anderson-Bethany funeral home in Roswell with viewing held on June 15 and 16. Services will be held at Church on the Move 901 W. Brasher Road in Roswell at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 17. Burial will follow service at Hagerman Cemetery. There will be a meal served at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Hagerman following burial. Pallbearers will be Mike Padilla, Ruben Miranda, Chester Riley, Gary Watts, Eric Eichwald and David Romero.

A memorial service will be held in Mountainair on June 26 at 10 a.m. at Dr. Saul's Community Center.

Ishmael was a resident of Mountainair for 31 years. Ishmael is survived by his wife Sammye L. De La Rosa, daughter Pamela Sutton and husband Mike of Roswell, two brothers, Henry De La Rosa and Martin De La Rosa Jr. and wife Judy; and a sister, Mary Ann Waide and husband Cliff all of Hagerman; along with three neices and one nephew. He was preceded in death by both parents.

Ishmael was a realtor for Exit Altura Realty in Los Lunas.

Ishmael loved loved his family very much and had a great love for all people, and always had a smile on his face, and was always willing to help people any way he could. He was described by a friend as an icon in Mountainair and he will be greatly missed.
