Editorial: It's Too Soon To Shut Prisons
New Mexico's prison population is on the decline, so much so that officials are considering canceling contracts with privately run prisons.   (Thursday, July 17, 2008)

Editorial: Let's Put Double Standard To Rest
Imagine if a white person was rude, crude and lewd enough to make a sexually charged comment in the mainstream media about a person of color. Oh wait, shock jock Don Imus did.   (Thursday, July 17, 2008)

Guest View: Throwing Money Into Wind Power
From what research I have done, wind energy looks to be more of a euphemism, like ethanol, then a viable energy source. The problems of wind energy are as such:   (Thursday, July 17, 2008)

Letters to the Editor
Accept Realities Of Nation's History MR. MCCLANNAHAN, I READ WITH INTEREST YOUR JULY 3 (column), "The Best Is Brought On The Fourth." I heartily agree that this country was founded with some wonderful high ideals in mind, and I'm all for puppy butt, young love and fireworks. Heck, throw in Mom and apple pie, too. I love this country and choose to make my home here. But I have to take issue with some of your statements.   (Thursday, July 17, 2008)

Editorial: Hot Line FYIs Need Tweaking
With drunken driving such a deadly menace in New Mexico, most residents probably welcome the state's new system for sending “wake-up call” letters to the owners of vehicles reported to the DrunkBuster's hot line for suspected drunken driving.   (Thursday, July 10, 2008)

Editorial: Better Protection for Pecos Canyon
The Pecos River winds through an administrative tangle on the first 20 miles of its journey to the Rio Grande. Consolidation of government ownership, or at least government management, under one authority could go a long way toward keeping the lovely Pecos Canyon from being loved to death by campers.   (Thursday, July 10, 2008)

Guest View: Myths About Farm Bill Dispelled
Recently, I was confronted by a woman who is not particularly wealthy and professes to be a Christian, who stated to me, “There is absolutely no reason to give special assistance to poor people, and by the way, why are you picking on McCain?!” Her statement was in response to my previous guest editorial in the Telegraph: “Hey McCain, Farm Bill is Vital.”   (Thursday, July 10, 2008)

Letters to the Editor
Accountability For Fires Is Lacking OTHER THAN BREATHING THE SMOKE I was not directly involved in either of the recent tragic fires in the Manzanos. I feel for those who were affected and can't help but ask: “Did it have to happen this way?”   (Thursday, July 10, 2008)

Editorial: State Director Stepped Up
Sometimes all it takes to make a difference is one person willing to step forward.   (Thursday, July 03, 2008)

Editorial: Residents Must Protect Homes
Three major fires in the past seven months have the nerves of East Mountains residents a little frayed.   (Thursday, July 03, 2008)
